Christina Wright, age 74, entered Heaven's gates on Sunday, March 13, 2016. She was born on July 4th, 1941 in Hazelhurst, Georgia. She was a longtime resident of Norwalk, Connecticut, but returned to her home in Baxley, Georgia, after her retirement from the City of Norwalk, Police Department.
Christine was a soldier for the Lord, and accepted Christ as her Savior with St. James Missionary Baptist Church, in Norwalk, CT and Mizpah Baptist Church in Baxley, Georgia, where she served as a faithful member, who truly loved the Lord.
Before moving to Connecticut, she was preceded in death by her loving late husband Tommy Lee Wright, daughter, Johnnie Mae Gamble-Smith, son, George Gillis and brother's Bobby and Daniel Gamble. She leaves to cherish her sweet memories, her mother Getrude Gamble, her son's Mitchell Gamble (Marcella), Freddie Wright (Patricia), Orvin Wright, her sister Annette Elliott, Anne Sead (Clentis), Teresa Garrett (Tommy), her brothers, Isaiah Barney, Sr. (Dorothy), John Gamble (Connie), Benjamin Gamble (Catherine), Calvin Gamble (Vickie).
Her grandchildren, Sharon Smith, Avis Stukes (Ronald), Michael Smith (Kinga), Terrance Smith, Toni Smith, Camille Wright, Ralph Wright, Spencer Wright, Brian Gamble, Tony Gillis, Marleigh Wright, her great grandchildren, Andrew Smith, Aaron Smith, Ming Stukes, Anasi Smith, Shamar Miller, Deon Brown, great-great grand children, J'Markus Leaks, Karmaryiah Caldwell, Aaron Smith, jr, and a host of nieces, nephews, devoted friends, relatives, and caregivers.
A going home service will be held at Mizpah Baptist Church, 3553 Piney Bluff Rd., Baxley, Georgia 31513, on Saturday, March 19th, 2016 - 11:30 a.m.
Visitation will begin prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. The family will be there to greet relatives and friends.
