It is with deepest sympathy that the staff of the C.M. Brown Funeral Home announces the passing of Former Baxley City Councilman Mr. Eugene Walker who passed on Friday, September 2nd at the Pavilion in Baxley.
Visitation: Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home located at 26 Northside Street, Baxley, GA.
Funeral Service: Friday, September 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM - St. James A.M.E. Church, 418 Comas Street, Baxley GA.
Burial: Baxley Cemetery

The late Mr. Eugene Walker, Jr. 79, passed peacefully early Friday morning on September 2, 2016 at the Appling Healthcare Pavilion in Baxley, GA.
Mr. Walker was a lifelong resident of Appling County, Georgia. He was born on November 25, 1936 to the late Mr. Eugene Walker, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mozella Walker. Mr. Walker was educated at the Appling Training School in Baxley, GA. and was a faithful member of the Saint James A.M.E. Church. He was married to the love of his life Mrs. Ophelia Williams Walker for over 60 years.
Mr. Walker loved his community and served as a Baxley City Councilman for over 19 years as well as serving on the Advisory Hospice Board, Inc. and the Advisory Housing Authority Board. He was employed at Akzo Nobel, Inc. for a number of years prior to retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. Eugene and Mrs. Mozella Walker; son: Dydell Walker; sisters: Earline Jenkins, Marjean Williams, Clementine Bell and Berniece Hall.
Mr. Walker leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Ophelia W. Walker; children: Cynthia W. (William) Moore of Jesup, GA., Carey L. (Terry) Walker of Tulsa, OK., Vondola (Troy) Barney, Dearaimus (Pamela) Walker, Stephanie Walker all of Baxley, GA. and Edgar Walker of Jacksonville, FL. Jaikeria (Jamere) Newkirk is a granddaughter that was raised as a daughter.
Sisters: Garfyangia Atkinson of Waverly, GA., Bettye Walker of Philadelphia, PA. and Joann (Norman) Rooks of Baxley, GA. Sisters-in-Laws: Zora Elizabeth Brown and Versie Lee Brown. Ten (10) Grandchildren and Four (4) Great Grandchildren along with a host of cousins and sorrowing friends.
