Latasha Sharda Johnson was born on April 1, 1987, to Isom Johnson, Jr. and the late Shurby Conaway. Her birth marked the beginning of a life filled with promise and potential. Latasha grew up experiencing both the joys and challenges that shaped her into a beautiful person.
Latasha was known to many as “KooKoo Red Lipstick” due to her love of red lipstick.
Latasha was educated in the Appling County School System. She graduated from Appling High School in 2005. After graduation, she furthered her education at Valdosta State University, South Georgia College, and Phoenix University’s online program. Latasha loved to babysit and care for children.
Latasha was born with sickle cell anemia and was not expected to live past the age of two. Defying all odds, she became an ardent advocate of sickle cell anemia awareness. Annually, she hosted a Sickle Cell Awareness Day in honor of survivors and in memory of those who lost their lives to the disease. Latasha was a spokesperson for many events promoting sickle cell anemia awareness and was the infamous host of the Georgia Day event for many years. She pursued a career in modeling and was celebrated for her style and fashion.
Latasha was full of life and always the life of the party. Despite her illness, she was a go-getter and tenacious, never allowing her condition to rob her of happiness and joy. She was known for her generosity and lovable nature, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met.
God came and took this beautiful soul to rest from all her labor on April 2, 2025. She was preceded in death by her mother, Shurby Conaway; grandparents, Robert Conaway and Pearl Johnson; and uncle, Leroy Conaway.
