Early Tuesday morning on March 25, 2014 God dispatched his Angels to bring his child home. Mother Willie Mae Cannon Barney transitioned from earth to glory at the Appling Healthcare Pavilion in Baxley, Georgia. Mother Barney was born on July 22, 1924 in Alamo (Wheeler County), Georgia to the parentage of Mr. Jack Cannon and Mrs. Bessie Cannon. Mother Barney was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Samuel L. Barney, Jr. Mother Barney was a faithful member of Upper Room Temple Church of Christ Holiness Unto the Lord, Inc. where Elder Joseph Lumpkin served as her pastor. Mother Barney loved God with all her heart and soul and served as the Mother of the church, member of the Women Auxiliary and was a very faithful member of the Sunday School. She was preceded in death by her sister, Edna Mae Hicks and brothers: Rosie Cannon, Flozell Dupree, Junior James Cannon, Robert Dale Dupree, Roosevelt Hicks and Sylvester Thompson. Daughter-In-Law: Alma Barney and Son-In-Law: Eugene Burden Mother Willie Mae Cannon Barney leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: Geraldine (Earnest) Byrden. Dallis Barney both of Baxley, GA, Ethel Mae (Eugene) Harris of Savannah, GA, Rosa Lee (Bobby) Rogers, Mildred (Arnold) Davis, Betty Jean (Mitchell) Smith, and Troy Lee (Vondola) Barney, Sr. all of Baxley, GA. Sister: Clyde Murchison of Pembroke, GA and Sister-In-Law: Gertrude Gamble. Sixteen (16) Grandchildren and thirty-five (35) Great Grandchildren. Special Friends: Ms. Alice Davis, Jimmie and Bell Hicks (like a son and daughter), Thomas Barney (nephew), Evang. Rose Knight, Mary and Bobby Scott, Elder Gregory and Sadie Russell, Betty Ann Richardson, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her church family.
