Mr. Eddie Lee Rogers

January 28, 2027 — May 19, 2015

Journey of Life Mr. Eddie Lee Rogers was born January 28, 1927 in Telfair County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Rev. Hughie and Ethel Rogers. On October 4, 1952, Eddie was united in Holy Matrimony to Edith Elease Akins of Appling County, Georgia. They resided in Baxley, Georgia until 1960 when they moved to Norwalk, Connecticut. Three lovely children were born to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, the late Eloyce Lynn Price, Daryl Rogers and Kathy Rogers Brock. Mr. Rogers was employed as a Lathe Operator at the Burndy Corporation until he retired in 1990 after 30 years of distinguished service. In Norwalk, Mr. Rogers was a member of Saint James Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a member of the Trustee Board and he was also a member of the Gospel Chorus. Since 1990, Mr. Rogers has been a dedicated member of the First Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he regularly attended church services, and Sunday School. Mr. Rogers was very involved with collecting the offerings and with keeping the church looking good. An avid fisherman, Mr. Rogers loved to catch fish anywhere, from Long Island Sound, to little fishing holes in Georgia. His other passion was gardening. Mr. Rogers helped to start up a community garden in Connecticut and he always had a garden or two of his own. Mr. Rogers was also a family man. His family members gave him the greatest joy. He was very fond of little children and he often would take them where ever he would go. In the summertime, for his vacation plans, Mr. Rogers would drive 18 hours to visit his parents and other relatives in Georgia. His wife thought that was the only place he knew to go. His legacy is that he had a big heart and was always helping others. For example, he helped several people move to Connecticut from rural Georgia for greater economic opportunities, even allowing some to stay in his home. In Georgia, he along with other family members, founded a now defunct company called Rogers Transportation Company which took patients to hospitals and doctors in the surrounding areas. God unveiled His master plan and called Eddie to his final resting place on May 19, 2015. His parents, His wife, son, Jimmie McLeod and daughter, Eloyce Lynn Price, preceded him in death. Precious memories of Mr. Rogers will be cherished by: Sons: Daryl Rogers of Bridgeport, CT and Reggie Smith of Fort Pierce, FL; Daughters: Kathy (David) Brock of Orlando, FL and Jackie (Darrell) Dunn of Port St. Lucie, FL; Daughter-in-Law: Joyce McLeod of Palatka, FL; Brothers: Bishop Lucious (Idell) Rogers, Bobby (Rose) Rogers, and Harold (Theresa) Rogers, all of Baxley, GA and Reverend Wayne (Juliann) Rogers of Pooler, GA; Brothers-in-law: Alnorris (Ida) Butler and Dale (Lenda) Butler, both of Baxley, GA and Felix (Retha) Butler of Vidalia, GA; Sisters: Reverend Frances DeShazor and Reverend Evelyn Rogers, both of Baxley, GA, Joyce Kornegay of Atlanta, GA, Alice Kornegay of Jacksonville, FL and Pearlie Mae Sumner of Fort Pierce, FL; and Sister-In-Law: Jackie (Boyd) Davis of Baxley, GA; He also leaves 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, and friends. i
