Mr. Rufus "Top" Erwin

Mr. Rufus "Top" Erwin was born on Wednesday, June 2, 1947 to the late Mrs. Verlie Mae Harris Erwin and Mr. E.B. Erwin in Decatur, Georgia. Early Saturday morning, on November 28, 2015 having fought the good fight, "Top" was called and he was more than willing to answer the call from his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. "Top" was a loving and caring person - he never met a stranger. He was a faithful member of the Greater St. Matthews the Faithful Church in Baxley, Georgia under the pastorate of Bishop L.C. Rogers where he served as an Usher. Rufus was also a dedicated associate of the C.M. Brown Funeral Home Staff. Rufus attended the DeKalb County School System in Decatur, Georgia. He was a former employee of the Georgia Power Company and retired from the American Welding and Tank Company in Jesup, Georgia. "Top" was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Ernest and Bernard Erwin. Rufus leaves to cherish his memories: A loving wife of 35 years, Mrs. Norma Jean Nails-Erwin of Baxley, GA.; Children: Cassondra (Bruce) Hill of Covington, GA., Paul (Tangela) Williams and Tonya (Otis) Brinson both of Baxley, GA. One brother: Kenneth Erwin of Atlanta, GA.; One Aunt: Josephine Twilley of Atlanta, GA.; Three brother-in-laws: Alton (Lavern) Permenter of Jacksonville, FL., Larry (Deborah) Nails and Dwight (Flonnie) Nails both of Baxley, GA. and one sister-in-law: Leshia Nails. A special niece: Dezarey Ponds and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends. Adopted Mothers: Sis. Rebecca Ogden and Mother Carolyn Reaves along with the staff of C.M. Brown Funeral Home.i
