Alice Geneva Barron, affectionately known to family and friends as "Gen", "Geneva", "Granny", and "Queen B" was born October 11, 1934 to the parentage of the late Andrew Hansley, Sr. and Minnie Blanding Hansley. She received her education in Jeff Davis County schools. She later moved to Baxley where on November 14, 1960, she met and married Clarence R. Barron, Sr. (who preceded her in death). Geneva joined St. James A.M.E. Church and she was very active as a class leader, member of Senior Choir, Stewardess Board, and secretary of the Improvement Board. She retired from the Appling County Middle School in 1999 after 30 years in food service. She was preceded in death by sisters, Ella Davis and Mattie Alderman; brother, Andrew Hansley, Jr.; and grandson, Nicholas Nails. She leaves to cherish her memory, five daughters, Marcia Hall, Flonnie (Dwight) Nails, Baxley, GA; Angela (Leon) Garrett, Valley, AL; Leslie (Alton) Hendricks, Hazlehurst, GA; Carol Mobley, LaGrange, GA; two sons, Albert Maurice (Annita) Barron, Americus, GA; Clarence (Priscilla) Barron, Jr., Dallas, GA; 23 Grandchildren--Three devoted grandchildren, Zylphia Hansley, Baxley, GA, Takeela Barron, Tifton, GA and Cyntoria Barron, Baxley, GA; and 8 Great Grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Matilda Stokes, Jacksonville, FL; Ernestine Barron, Merle Barron, Fort Myers, FL; two brothers-in-law, Artis Barron, Elisha Barron, Fort Myers, FL Two special friends, Ms. Carolyn Reaves and Ms. Mary Barnum. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive.
