Mrs. Irma Jean Jones Gillis

Mrs. Irma Jean Jones Gillis was born September 11, 1944 in Hazlehurst, Georgia to Mr. George Jones and Mrs. Florence Barney Jones. Mrs. Gillis was married to the late Mr. Jerry Gillis. She transitioned from this life on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Appling Healthcare System Pavilion in Baxley, Georgia surrounded by a host of loving family and friends. She was a faithful member of the Pentecostal Miracle Deliverance Church and served as Mother of the Church. Mother Gillis was a Retired Certified Nursing Assistant and worked for a number of years at the Appling Nursing Home and Appling Healthcare System Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. and Mrs. George and Florence Jones; husband: Jerry Gillis; sister: Mary Artis Williams and brother: John C. Jones. Mrs. Gillis leaves to cherish her memories four loving children: Carolyn Jones, Gwen (George Allen) Jackson, Tony Gillis all of Baxley, Ga. and Teresa (Vernon) Turner of Statesboro, Ga. A special niece: Joyce (Thomas) Corley of Atlanta, Ga. Sister: Georgia Anna Murphy of St. Petersburg, FL and sisters-in-law: Joanne Jones of Baxley, Ga and Nellie Ruth Perry of Gainesville, FL. Aunts: Gertrude Gamble of Baxley, Ga. and Geraldine McFlannen of Augusta, Ga. Grandchildren: Angela (Darrell) McCoy, Chastity Brown, Steven (Kande) Gillis, Chris (Krissy) Gillis, Shane Gillis and twenty (20) Great Grandchildren. Special friends: Dorothy Howard, Josie Bell Wilson, Becky Holton, Vera Henry all of Baxley, Ga. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends. Special thanks to the pastor and members of the Baxley Church of God for all of their prayers and assistance.
