Mrs. Martha Jane Sailem was the daughter of the late M. P. Matthews, Sr. and Lucille Matthews. Martha was born in Lincolnton, Georgia on December 5, 1944.
Martha was a member of the St. James AME Church for many years and served faithfully on the Usher's Board until her health failed. She loved her children and grandchildren and she never upheld her sons in any wrongdoing.
Her sons stated "she was a mom that was not scared of her children... when she talked everyone listened." After she gave you a spanking, she would say "run by me" so she could give you her final part of your punishment.
On April 5, 2017 God called and Martha answered and was led by His hand into the place in which He prepared. God granted her the time to seek, trust and believe that there is eternal life if you just believe.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Jessie Sailem, Sr., children: Jackie Sailem and Levertis Sailem, and siblings: Robert Cullers and Kate Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her memories her Sons: Jessie Sailem, Jr. (Carol) of Dublin, GA, Nathaniel Sailem of Baxley, GA, Wallace Sailem (Shirley) of Birmingham, AL, Roy Sailem of Baxley, GA, Cedric Sailem (Robin) of Baxley, GA, David Sailem of Jacksonville, FL and Tracy Sailem (Lee) of Hazlehurst, GA;
